About

Everyone needs content for their RPG campaigns: adventure hooks, puzzles, NPCs, political machinations, combat encounters, and adventure sites. That’s what this site provides! I draw RPG content from real-life fact and folklore, then give advice on how to adapt it to your fictional campaign. I believe content that is grounded in reality (however fantastical) is richer and more vibrant, and your players will appreciate the difference.

Bonus Post - Ground for Inspiration

February 26, 2018

I met geologist Scott Rice-Snow at Gencon a few years back, where he was giving a series of lectures on geological features and how to use them in RPGs. He’s got a terrific focus on using sound science to enrich story. We stayed in touch, and last month, he told me about a new website/blog his family was starting: Ground for Inspiration.

Once a month, the Rice-Snows post an in-depth piece about an awesome element of the landscape. They give you all the information you need to use it at your table, and tons of story ideas. Sometimes, they even include sample battlemaps! Some great examples are their articles on talus, flatrock points, and desert streambed throughways.

If you’re a regular reader of the Molten Sulfur Blog, Ground for Inspiration should be right up your alley. I enthusastically recommend following them on Facebook so you’re notified when they post an update. (You can do the same thing with the Molten Sulfur Blog!)
